Night Epic in OKC

**Quick photo entry. Last week's group ride. More info from the ride can be found here. Oh, and some images I shot at the Slowdown with the Canon 5DMkII. If anyone want's to help me purchase one of these for myself, please let me know. ;)

If there could be a trip I venture on where something does not go wrong, I'd be amazed to hear about it.

I came down to OKC yesterday. After getting my oil changed, I left about 830, and arrived shortly after 1500. Pretty good driving. Super smooth and easy breezy. I am in OKC for the day before heading into Texas for my Ultra-Marathon.

Time warp.

Hours later, after everyone was in bed, I was screwing around on my computer and decided to hit it myself. The Whole 10 Yards was on (I love Blanch!) but I was ready to crash after only getting 4 hours of sleep. I washed my face then went down to my car to get my sleeping bag. Upon returning, the door was locked. Feeling like an idiot. I was hesitant to have to wake Andy up, but there wasn't much else I could do. So I knocked.

I knocked.

I knocked with my keys.

... Shit.

I searched for a key. No key.

I went and searched Andy's car. No key.

As a last ditched effort, I went down and buzzed his apartment.

Buzz.

Buzz. Buzz.

B u z z. Buzz Buzz Buzz. B u z z. *Woof woof woof!*

Nothing.

I went back to my car and grabbed my sleeping pad and wrote a note.

I tucked the note under Andy's door: "Locked out. Sleeping on roof! -L"

And so I did.

It's an open roof with a party area on it. But After watching Adam and Steven piss in various spots on the roof (as did I during the night), I figured there was no safe haven. So I grit teeth and went horizontal. It was probably in the high 30s. No sweat. The best part about it was every time I'd wake up to shift, I'd have no idea where I was.

"Oh, I am in my bag, I must be camping..."

Squinting around, I could see city scape and buildings. "WTF?"

"Oh yes, I am sleeping on a roof of an apartment building."

Andy was nice enough to wake me up and let me in like a bad dog when he got up and found me MIA.

Good times. And to think, there are many days and many miles yet to go.

Dude, when i woke up that morning and saw the note under the door I really did start laughing. Epic.

Kinda like the time you got left on the side of the highway for hours in the cold....
